On December 21, 2016, Alan M. Greenberg successfully obtained a $750,000 pretrial mediated settlement in Bronx Supreme Court for a client who was struck by a school bus in Yonkers, N.Y.

The client, Elizabeth Grey-Pardo, a professional poker player and actress, was injured in June 2013 by a bus operated by Ursula Torres, who was executing a left turn from Roberts Avenue onto North Broadway. Both a crosswalk and a traffic light exist at that location; the client stated that she was using the crosswalk at the time of the accident and that the traffic signal permitted her to use the crosswalk.

After the accident, she was transported to St. John’s Riverside Hospital, in Yonkers, via ambulance, where she was X-rayed and complained of pain in her head, left knee, and neck. She received treatment at the hospital, and shortly thereafter received further treatment, including physical therapy, injection of a steroid-based painkiller, and surgery to her left knee. In 2016, as a consequence of her having to put more weight on her right knee due to damage to her left knee, she underwent surgery to repair damage to her right knee.

The client sued the driver of the bus and the company of the bus, Allways East Transportation, alleging negligence on the part of the driver and liability on the part of the bus company, given that the accident occurred while the driver was in the bus company’s employ. She sought damages for past and future pain and suffering.

Greenberg Law P.C. negotiated a pretrial mediated settlement agreement on behalf of the client.
